This privacy policy describes how the Reel It Quick browser extension (“the extension”) handles information when you use it on instagram.com.

Summary

Reel It Quick runs entirely in your browser. It does not send your data to our servers. We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for advertising or analytics.

What data the extension accesses

When you visit an Instagram profile while logged into your Instagram account, the extension may access:

• Instagram page content and network responses that your browser already receives (for example, reel metadata, captions, hashtags, view counts, and profile identifiers).
• Information needed to load additional reels for the profile you are viewing, using the same Instagram endpoints your session would normally use.

The extension only runs on instagram.com and only when you interact with it (for example, by opening the overlay panel).

How data is used

Data accessed by the extension is used only to provide its features locally in your browser, including:

• Loading and listing a profile’s recent reels
• Searching and filtering reels by caption or hashtag
• Grouping reels by hashtag and sorting results

All processing happens on your device inside the browser tab.

Storage and retention

• In-memory only. Reel data is kept in temporary browser memory while you use the extension on a page.
• 30-minute cache. Cached entries expire automatically after 30 minutes.
• No disk persistence. The extension does not write reel data to localStorage, chrome.storage, IndexedDB, or any other persistent storage.
• Cleared on reload. Closing or refreshing the Instagram tab clears the in-memory cache.
• Profile-scoped. Cached data is scoped to the Instagram profile you are viewing and is invalidated when you navigate to a different profile.

What we do not collect

• We do not operate backend servers that receive your Instagram data.
• We do not collect account passwords or payment information.
• We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising SDKs.
• We do not sell or share your data with third parties.

Permissions

The extension requests the minimum permissions needed to function:

• Host access to instagram.com — to run only on Instagram and read responses your logged-in session already receives.
• Scripting — to inject the in-page panel when you click the extension icon.

Third-party services

Instagram is operated by Meta. When you use the extension, your browser communicates with Instagram under your existing Instagram account and Instagram’s own terms and privacy policy. We do not control Instagram’s handling of your data.

Children

The extension is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect the latest version.
